I began my career with Graham Wilson and Paul Beaty at BPR, where I was fortunate to work across an unusually broad range of projects — from smaller residential schemes to
major cut-and-carve office buildings in central London.
That breadth still shapes the way I work. Fundamentally, I’m a project architect: I like seeing the big picture, finding the idea that unlocks a building or space, and knowing what it takes to make it a reality. I’m as interested in how a project is delivered as I am in
the initial design.
I founded FT Architects in 2011. What motivates me hasn’t really changed: helping clients realise the potential of their buildings, and bringing the experience, persistence and attention to detail needed to turn a good idea into a finished one.

What I look for
I want to keep what has value, and be confident about changing what doesn’t.
When I walk into an old building, I’m looking for potential — for what is already good, and for what’s stopping the building from being as good as it could be.
Sometimes the answer is surprisingly small: changing a circulation route, opening up a view, bringing light into the right place. Sometimes it needs a much bolder intervention. I’m not precious about old buildings, but I respect them.

An idea is only half of it. The rest is delivery.

Finding the move
Often there’s a single move that unlocks a plan - and finding it is probably the part of architecture I enjoy most.

Making it real
Good architecture has to survive planning, budgets, technical design and construction - and still be good at the end. I’m as interested in that as in the idea itself.

Clients work with me throughout. Projects can be complex and stressful; I try to make them feel calm, clear and enjoyable.
